Our bedding offers horses protection against diseases commonly associated with unsafe bedding practices due to its natural resistance to bacterial and fungal growth. It is crafted from 100% natural and organic coco peat and coco husk, without the use of any artificial additives. Additionally, our bedding is biodegradable and can be easily disposed of after use, promoting environmental sustainability.
When comparing bedding materials, it has been observed that lateral lying, which is indicative of positive welfare in stabled horses, occurred less frequently with sawdust, a commonly used bedding material, as opposed to cocopeat. This finding suggests that sawdust may have a negative impact on the welfare of stabled horses due to the reduced frequency of lateral lying. In previous studies, sawdust bedding was replaced with fresh bedding once a week, even though the removal of feces from stalls was carried out daily. Such management practices may contribute to the decreased occurrence of lateral lying.
Furthermore, research indicates that horses exhibit a preference for darker-colored bedding over more traditional options such as pellets, straw, and paper.
